How to Photograph and Salve Kids Artwork

Every calendar month, TONS of art creations are created in my home. My daughter lonely creates at least two works of fine art every day. As she says, "I need to do my fine art now. I just love my fine art.". I can't bear to but throw away these creations, but storing all of them would be physically impossible. So what practice I do? I digitize them.

Here are the six basic steps that I use to digitize and store my children'southward artwork – saving me space and mom guilt.

one – The Astonishing Artwork Cosmos

Showtime, you need to start with a piece of artwork. Whenever my kids color or paint a moving picture, I try to inquire them a simple question: "What is this drawing?" or "What do you telephone call this painting?".

I similar to let them proper noun their ain creations. Sometimes it'due south just a simple "Dinosaur". Just other times the answer is "A shark on a mountain with a tree". I don't question information technology. I just write information technology down.

Then, I will write my child'south name, historic period, and their artwork's championship on the back of the paper. This volition come in handy when you save digital copies of all these creations.

  1. Lite – No matter what kind of photographic camera you lot use, natural, indirect sunlight (remember a cloudy day, or straight sunlight through a sheer curtain) is your best friend here. Set up by a window if you tin can. Don't block your light though – don't stand up betwixt your light source and your art slice.
  2. Bright – If you have a DSLR, employ the highest f-stop possible. If shooting on a white surface, up the exposure comp too. No DSLR? No problem. Give landscape shooting mode a try.
  3. Shoot from Above – If you have a tripod with a horizontal camera mount, this is ideal. If not, stand on a chair or step stool to become the all-time vantage point. You want to shoot straight from above. Keep your camera parallel to the table and your art slice.
